River Hill’s girls field hockey team celebrated its senior class during its 2026 Senior Night matchup against Wilde Lake, honoring seniors Sydney Case, Millie George, Bella O’Rouke and Sejal Patel. From personalized posters and gift baskets to a team breakfast and a special walkout with their families, the team made sure its seniors felt appreciated before taking the field. The celebration ended with a 5–0 victory for River Hill, giving the team an exciting finish to a memorable night.
The celebration began in the morning with a senior breakfast in the teachers’ lounge, where the team moms Christine Case and Lisa George came together to set up food for the seniors. The breakfast included fruit, bagels with cream cheese, orange juice and Chick-fil-A chicken minis. In addition to the food, the team prepared tiaras, shirts and a sash for the seniors to wear throughout the day, making sure they felt celebrated from the start.
Junior Crystal McGeehan described the effort that went into organizing the breakfast and putting together the decorations and gifts. These preparations gave teammates a chance to show their appreciation for the seniors and recognize their contributions to the program. Gia Foss, stated “The chicken minis were a hit and a particular highlight of the morning, adding a fun touch to the team’s celebration.”
The surprises continued as the seniors arrived at the field. Junior Olivia Creighton explained that the team decorated personalized posters for each senior and put together gift baskets filled with their favorite snacks and drinks.
The team also added decorations around the school to make the day feel special. Sophomore Allison Han stated “We spray-painted the seniors’ jersey numbers on the hill and used chalk to write their names along the walkway leading to the turf field.” These personal touches made it clear that the team had put time and effort into celebrating each senior.
Senior Millie George appreciated the thought that went into the day’s preparations.
“The setup was perfect throughout the day. The morning started the day off strongly, giving me great energy for the game,” George said.
Before the game began, the seniors were recognized individually as they walked onto the field alongside their families. The introductions gave each player a moment to celebrate their time with the team while teammates, family members and spectators looked on.
For O’Rouke, seeing the effort her teammates put into the celebration made the occasion especially meaningful. “It was amazing seeing all of the effort the team put into making this night so special for us,” she said.
Senior Night offered an opportunity to recognize more than just the seniors’ athletic contributions. It also celebrated the friendships, teamwork and memories they had built throughout their time in the program. The decorations, gifts and family introductions helped make the evening a memorable experience for the entire team.
Following the Senior Night celebrations, River Hill took on Wilde Lake with plenty of energy and enthusiasm. Players worked together on both ends of the field, creating offensive opportunities, defending against their opponents and making important saves.
The Hawks’ efforts paid off as River Hill secured a decisive 5–0 victory over Wilde Lake, giving the seniors a memorable result on their special night.
Senior Sajel Patel expressed pride in the team’s performance and the work everyone put in to finish strong. “I am so proud of our team putting in the work to make this night end on a strong note that we all were happy with,” Patel said.
The victory capped off a day centered on celebrating the seniors and recognizing their place in the River Hill field hockey community. From the morning breakfast to the final whistle, teammates made an effort to show their appreciation both on and off the field.
With personalized decorations, thoughtful gifts, family introductions and a shutout victory, River Hill’s 2026 Senior Night was a celebration of the team’s hard work, friendships and the seniors who helped shape the program.
