As the school year comes to an end, many juniors are already starting to think about senior year. For a lot of students, it’s exciting to finally be entering their last year of high school, but it’s also a little scary knowing graduation is getting closer. Between college applications, future plans, and all the traditions that come with being a senior, next year is expected to be one of the most memorable years yet.
Wasif Khalid said he’s excited for senior year, but he knows it will come with a lot of responsibility.”I’m really looking forward to senior year because it feels like everything we’ve been working toward is finally here.”
Khalid says, “At the same time, I know it’s going to be stressful because of college applications and trying to figure out what I want to do after high school. I’m excited for things like football games, senior events, and spending time with my friends. I think the biggest thing for me is making sure I stay focused while also enjoying the year because once it’s over, we’re all going our separate ways.”
Ceylan Urfalli is looking forward to the experiences that only seniors get to have.”It’s honestly hard to believe we’re already almost seniors. I feel like freshman year was just a couple of years ago, and now graduation doesn’t seem that far away.”
Urfalli expresses, “I’m excited for all the senior traditions because those are the things everyone remembers. I also want to make sure I finish high school strong and keep my grades up.”
For Sayer Smithson, senior year is about making memories and appreciating the friendships he has made throughout high school. “I think senior year is going to be really fun, but also kind of emotional,”
Smithson says, “a lot of us have known each other for a long time, so it’s weird thinking that this is our last year together before everyone goes off and does their own thing. I’m looking forward to spending time with my friends, going to school events, and just enjoying all the little moments. I don’t want senior year to go by too fast because I know I’m going to miss a lot of it when it’s over.”
Deuce Lewis said he is excited for both the opportunities and challenges that senior year will bring. “We’re getting closer to college, and whatever comes next, so it feels like a really important year. Obviously, there will be some stress because of applications and making decisions about the future, but I’m trying not to focus only on that. I want to enjoy spending time with my friends and being involved in school because these are memories we’re going to look back on years from now. I think finding a balance between planning for the future and enjoying the present is really important.”
Although each student has different goals for the future, they all share the same excitement about entering their final year of high school. Senior year will bring new opportunities, challenges, and memories that will stay with them long after graduation.
