Sunday, November 15 may have been any normal day to you; however, in the business world, the day marks American Enterprise Day: a day which honors America’s free enterprise system. The free enterprise system is one in which the market determines prices, products, and services rather than the government controlling America’s businesses.
On Tuesday, November 17, our high school’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) held a virtual workshop on Google Meet in honor of American Enterprise Day. Inviting 4 local business owners, the club facilitated a Question and Answer panel for their members. The 4 panelists were comprised of Diane White (owner of Kake Korner- a bakery in Laurel, MD); Stephen Lee (partner and CEO of Wagener-Lee LLC- a financial planning firm in Columbia, MD); Iman Moussa (owner of Koshary- an Egyptian street food restaurant in Clarksville, MD); and Darrel Barros (managing director at Maya Cinemas- a theater chain located on the West Coast).
Speaking to and answering the questions of over 100 workshop attendees, the panelists were able to teach River Hill FBLA’s members the importance of the free enterprise system that America is lucky to have.
