River Hill High School is bustling with word of prom. Every April and May, juniors and seniors have the opportunity to purchase prom tickets for a night of fun and excitement. This year, the River Hill SGA is bringing a red carpet theme to the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace.
Girls are rushing to find the perfect prom dress. Junior Greta Sue Hanson is relieved since she “found a dress online, ordered it, and it came within two weeks.” Although many students claim that ordering dresses online is risky and unpredictable because sizes sometimes are not accurate, some got lucky and found the perfect fit. Some girls, including senior Priya Patel, bought dresses months beforehand. Priya recalls,“my sister bought my prom dress for me a couple months ago and I completely trust her style.”
Boys, however, seem to take a shorter time to pull their prom outfits together. Senior Ethan Weiner claims, “I’ll just use my same suit from last year because I don’t see a reason to get a new one.” Other boys agree and find it useless to buy a whole new suit.
Deadlines have popped up for guest forms as well, so the office is rushing to fill them out so that students from other schools will have the opportunity to attend the River Hill dance. On May 2, guest forms are officially due, and soon after, River Hill students have the opportunity to buy tickets for guests.
The school-sponsored Post Prom Party (P3) is also going to be held at the Main Event at the Columbia Mall, the same as last year. After the PTA received extremely positive feedback about last year’s P3, there will hopefully be similar success this year. Senior Aneesa Ahmad says, “I had so much fun last year at the afterparty at the Main Event, and will definitely go this year with my friends. There were so many prizes and it was just a great time overall.”
After preparation on behalf of SGA and the student body, River Hill is excited to bring it for yet another exciting prom.
