Movies are notoriously good options when it comes to relaxing, having a good laugh, spending time with friends and family, and to just enjoy as well.
With that being said, films can serve as a much needed distraction for River Hill students when clocking out of a long day of school and other responsibilities. From comfort movies to new summer films to recommendations from friends, people are likely to watch a wide variety of movies.
The new Marvel movie, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, and Everything Everywhere All at Once are popular answers among River Hill students when asked what they have recently watched. Junior Erin Lovell shares, “Yeah, I’ve seen Multiverse of Madness recently and also Pride and Prejudice.” Sophomore Vedanti Patel comments, “I rewatched Mean Girls and then Knives Out. I recently watched The Adam Project with my brother.”
For some, picking from the movies they have watched lately and choosing a favorite can sometimes be a challenge. No matter how difficult it is, or isn’t, the varying different answers are always interesting to see.
“The Tenant is my favorite movie out of the ones I have seen recently,” says Sophomore Rahul Manchanda-Isquierdo.
Sophomore Kayla Maglalang mentioned, “I really liked Taipei Suicide Story, My Heart Can’t Beat Unless You Tell it To, My Own Private Idaho, and House,”
With summer approaching and an empty “summer film watch list,” students turn to their friends for recommendations on what to watch. Finding a good movie to watch with friends and/or family can be hard and it’s helpful to hear what others like.
Rahul pitches in and recommends, “Spider-man, or any of the Marvel movies. I just watch all of the Marvel movies in the summer.”
Looking forward to movies coming out in theaters or just getting around to a movie that’s been on your to-watch list is a common experience. There are all kinds of movies on these lists, like The Maze Runner all the way to Memory.
Vedanti remarks that, “I need to watch Five Feet Apart, Maze Runner, Dune, Shang Chi, and Love and Monsters,”
“I’m really looking forward to watching Everything Everywhere All At Once, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and Mysterious Skin,” says Kayla
Movies provide stress-relieving distractions, things to do with friends, and topics of interest among students. It’s great to see what everyone else thinks of your favorite film or what they’ve been waiting to watch.
