With the entrance of this cold chilly breeze comes exciting new opportunities for the school, like Thanksgiving break, winter break and winter sports, but it seems like there might be a new event that will be happening this year for students: the winter ball.
At the moment, not much is known about the winter ball. So far, the only communication that students have received about it was an announcement and survey asking if they would attend and if the dress code should be semi-formal. Instead of wearing suits and dresses like homecoming, it seems like students have the option of wearing something less formal and more loose and comfortable.
“I’ve never heard of it. I honestly had no idea about it.” Was freshman Kacie Cheng’s answer when asked about the ball. Many, like Kacie, didn’t even know about the ball.
There are many who are enthusiastic about the dance. Sophomore Sydney Lynott was excited about the news of the winter ball, commenting, “I think it’s a great idea. We didn’t have stuff like this in middle school so it’ll be a great opportunity for us.” Like Sydney, many are glad to have more opportunities like this. Especially in high school with us being much older, it’s a great way for people to connect with friends and others.
Opposed to those who are interested in attending, some people feel the dance isn’t something they should really have and won’t bother attending the event. Sophomore Taylor Person seemed very uninterested in the ball saying “I won’t be attending it. It just seems so unnecessary for us to have.”
All we can seem to do is wait for more information to come out about the dance. Hopefully we will get a better understanding about what’s going on and when it’s happening. The question now is: will this dance be snow joke or will it go completely snowhere?
