Airing on March 3rd 2016, The Family is already blowing up all over television screens, with constant advertisements and episodes of a potentially new and addicting television series, that’s full of twists and turns.
The new thriller, was produced and created by Jenna Bans (Bans was a former writer on the infamous Shonda Rhimes shows, Greys Anatomy and Scandal). ABC Studios and Mandeville Television brings this eccentric new show to our televisions.
The show is set in Red Pines Maine, where main character Adam Warren (played by Liam James, also known for Good Luck Chuck, 2012, and The Killing), mysteriously returns from his ten years in captivity, leaving the town, and the Warren family, shocked and hopeful.
Claire (played by Joan Allen, best known for her stellar roles in the Bourne films and The Room) and John Warren (played by Rupert Graves renowned for his role in the hit series Sherlock) are the parents in this distorted family, who have lots of secrets of their own. The two constantly go back and forth fighting and screaming at each other, always blaming the other for what happened to Adam.
Sergeant Nina Meyer (played by Margot Bingham, Boardwalk Empire) is the officer investigating the case of Adam Warren. She told the public that Adam had been murdered ten years ago by Hank (portrayed by Andrew McCarthy, famous for Lipstick Jungle, Pretty In Pink, Royal Pains, and White Collar.), a local neighbor, who spent ten years of his life locked up when he had done nothing to Adam. While thinking she finally solved the case, Adam was actually being cruelly raped, beaten, deprived, and malnourished by his kidnapper.
As Officer Meyer repeatedly says, “Every officer has a case that makes them, and a case that breaks them. This case was both.” By saying this, Officer Meyer reveals to the readers that the thought of her convicting an innocent man and letting a boy suffer in such inhumane ways for ten years haunts her every day and she knows that although solving the case at the time seemed incredible, this situation ruins the glory and will break her.
The acting in this show is pretty good, coming from someone who has no experience in this field. Although Claire Warrens cry sessions make Americans cringe from how unrealistic it sounds and looks. The music also is excellent, using certain sounds and effects to amplify whatever emotion the audience should be feeling.
The Family is a stunning and brilliant new show that will make your jaw drop constantly and always make you wonder… What will happen next? To watch this great show, tune in every Sunday at 9pm or catch up online at the ABC website!
