Through three games, the JV basketball Hawks have accumulated a record of 2-1, and are looking bright to the future. Head coach Kerry Martin says “We still have a lot of room for improvement. We are shooting 35.6% from inside the arc, and 25% from three, and 45% from the free throw line.”
The defense is what has been keeping the Hawks in games this year, as they are averaging 14 steals per game. Only giving up 36.7 point per game after three games, the defensive intensity has been increased from previous years because of the additional “depth at each position” according to Coach Martin. With early fouling in the first half, the Hawks have had to be persistent in the second half with trying to get back into games, and have been very successful in doing so.
Sophomore captain James Dorsey says the team has “performed well but needs to focus on more of the little things to win games.” Freshman captain Jacob Krause says the team needs to “finish possessions and execute plays in a more efficient way to win games.”
