Now that the winter season is here, the girl’s basketball team takes to the court with a display of skill and teamwork. The athletes take their practice seriously, and, led by their talented coaches, this team combines their individual talents into always pushing themselves. With each practice and game they do their best to defeat their opponent.
One of the leading players, Taylor Shaine, is on the Varsity team. She has a passion for playing basketball and recently got into Washington College. “I see myself having many opportunities on the court.” Taylor says “I am excited to carry on” the sport she plays into college. She hopes others want to continue basketball as a career. “My advice is to put your head down and work hard, don’t compare yourself to anyone and put in your best”
Zoe Irvin, a junior varsity player, has always wanted to play basketball. “I started playing when I was younger.” She has been inspired to play on the team and she wants to continue playing. She also talks about her teams progress conveying that “We put in hard work and effort, some of us really want to continue this sport throughout high school.”
Junior varsity player Julia Winsdor states, “I have seen progress with my teammates, and I think we are all working really hard to beat our opponent. I see that some really put in their effort so that they could make varsity next year.” Members of the Junior Varsity team want to continue basketball as a sport through high school and college.
Freshman Yvoene Bonnah says, ”I love to play basketball and I have been playing for many years, I want to continue this sport into my high school years.” She also expresses, “I might even play basketball in college and years to come. I love the sport a lot, it brings me joy to be on the court.”
Overall both the varsity and junior varsity girls basketball teams are making remarkable progress and are trying to start the season off right. We will be cheering for them from the sidelines.
