The excitement of an after-school Starbucks run is one most students at River Hill can relate to. The extensive menu allows for creative culinary combinations, to satisfy every student’s picky taste buds.
Since so many students at RHHS love to have Starbucks every morning and/or afternoon, a great controversy has risen, sparking the question of autumn or winter Starbucks, which is better? On one note, there are the autumn drinks with Apple Crisp and Pumpkin Spice, and on another note, there are the pastries with an equal ratio of cinnamon to cream cheese to make an excellent combination. As Sophomore Emily Jones exclaimed, “You can never go wrong with an Iced Brown Sugar Oat Milk Espresso.” An exclusive drink of the fall menu. So does the rival even stand a chance?
Sophomore Jennifer Newman says most definitely. “I really like the winter menu at Starbucks, way way way more than the fall drinks. I get tired of them really fast, but I never get tired of the Winter Sugar Cookie Latte.”
The winter menu has more than just a Sugar Cookie Latte to offer. There is even a special winter cake pop called Peppermint Brownie, for all the frequent cake pop purchasers (a very reliable option). Besides cake pops, there is also a very extensive drink choice including Chestnut Praline, and Gingerbread Lattes all the way to Blended Peppermint Mocha Frappuccinos. The newest addition to the Starbucks menu is the Gingerbread Oat Milk Chai Latte. Last November this drink was not included in the menu. This is the first year it has been introduced and Sophomore Emily Anderson believes it is here to stay, “I ordered the Gingerbread Oat Milk Chai Latte in grande and I really enjoyed it. I liked it iced and the oat milk was a nice touch. I think it will be back next November, since I definitely look forward to ordering it again next time and hopefully next year too.”
Every day at RHHS, friendships are broken, indecisive feelings are felt and tears are shed over the big question: Fall or Winter menu? Which is the better option? Unfortunately the big question will forever go unanswered. We can all agree that the universal message from the RHHS student community is that, to Starbucks, we love you a latte.
