Memorial Day is a time where students and teachers are able to relax and take a breather before the tiring road of finals. It provides the chance to enjoy the sun and warm weather, which is a break from being cooped up inside a school building.
The three day weekend gives many the opportunity to go out and hang out with family and friends. It gives them a chance to hit the road and explore and experience new adventures to add to a collection of great memories. Freshman Sherina Sen commented,“I’m going to California for Memorial Day. My dad has a volleyball team and they’re playing there so I’ll be spending my time there. It’s gonna be a lot of fun, I’m very excited.”
Junior Shae Fraser said that she’s “going to Pennsylvania. We go up there to go swimming and hang out with the family.” Sophomore Zeke Dye had replied, “I’m going to my grandma’s house and hang out with her.”
You don’t just need to travel somewhere to have a good time. Some students in River Hill have decided to spend their Memorial Day in state, with some even remaining in town. Sophomore Dara Asante replied saying “I’m just going to be staying home and sleeping in. I really don’t feel like doing anything during the weekend, so I’m just getting some extra sleep.”
The end of the year is coming up and causing extra stress for students. Take this time to relax and breathe in some fresh air, whether it be traveling and exploring new places or just staying at home and doing some self-care. It’s up to you to decide what you are going to do, just make the most of this Memorial Day weekend.
