Six years of elementary school. Three years of middle school. Now, finally, almost four years of high school have been completed. The class of 2025 is in their last year and are on the path to finishing another big chapter of their lives.
Being seniors allows more opportunities for this year’s upperclassmen. One of them is the Senior Crab Feast on October 21st. The Senior Crab Feast is an all-you-can-eat crab buffet sponsored by the school for all seniors. When asked about their thoughts, Dara Asante replied, “I’m so excited and the Crab Feast will allow me to be the big back that I am. It will be so fun to eat with my friends and not care about being messy.” “I’m honestly glad I can just eat and not have to pay.” Kat Thompson said when asked about her thoughts on the feast. It’s a great opportunity to socialize with friends, get your hands and faces dirty with old bay seasoning, and your bellies full of Maryland’s delicacies.
Another event specifically for seniors is the Senior Sunrise Breakfast on October 2nd. To attend the breakfast, seniors must wake up and come to school early. “If they’re giving us free food, you know I’m going to attend.” Daniel Dzubak had expressed excitement. “I don’t care how early I have to wake up, I’m going if the food is free.” They’ll be able to enjoy the cool fresh morning air, and warm delicious food while being surrounded by friends and teachers. Jonathan Mackrell was a bit hesitant when told about the event as since “I don’t like spending more time in school than I have to,” but after some time thinking about it he had responded saying that “this sounds like a really good opportunity to spend time with friends.” Even with the event being the crack of dawn and many not students not exactly being early birds, it seems they are excited nonetheless.
But it’s not just the Crab Feast or the Senior Sunrise that seniors are looking forward to, but seniors also end school earlier, getting off at the end of May instead of mid-June. Michael Gerdes expressed his excitement saying, “Thank god I get to leave school in May. I get to sleep in for most of June before graduation.”
The class of 2025 has a lot in store for them, but even then, the relief of high school close to being over is at the end of the tunnel. All the hard work will soon be paid off and it’ll be time to take the walk down the stage and grapes that diploma in your hand. So take a deep breath, calm your mind, and get excited for all the events that our school has in store.
