How does one balance school life while playing for the top youth soccer league in the nation? Well, ask Cameron Clairmont.
Clairmont plays on the local Baltimore Armour Academy soccer team where he showcases his skills and ability to guide a group of kids towards success. How he balances such a responsibility and school career is through determination and initiative.
Clairmont’s method of coping with stress is simply not to stress. He creates an environment for himself and for his teammates that does not permit such a distraction, stating that “When I’m with the team the only thing I can think about is success.” With Clairmont’s intense passion and athletic ability, he has the confidence to progress through soccer.
One key to his success, Cameron states, is his routine. When coming home from school Cameron tends to do homework right away and then spend time resting. This can involve TV eating or playing Xbox. As he gets ready for practice Cameron plays music to clear his mind. After practice he comes home at around 9 o’clock, eats dinner, and then finishes the rest of his homework.
From hauling him across state borders for games to helping him with homework, the parents of such a well-rounded athlete and scholar have devoted a lot to their son’s dreams. “He gives his whole heart and soul to everything that he does and every game that he plays,” stated Tara Clairmont.
The real question is how can Clairmont account for his social life too? Outside of the field Clairmont meets regularly with his teammates. They do many activities together such as watching movies and playing X Box and soccer. Clairmont likes to attend his high school’s football games and occasionally stop by the varsity soccer field to check things out. “Even though I’m not playing high school soccer, I love to come and support the team.” This shows what kind of person Clairmont is and how he wants to support people from his school as well as his friends.
It appears that Clairmont will continue to succeed through school and on the field, progressing through social groups, making the right decisions, and influencing young people to achieve greatness.
