Senior Noah Thyberg recently committed to play lacrosse at Randolph Macon. Quarterback on the football team and goalie in lacrosse, Thyberg has always known he wanted to play at the college level. “I’ve loved to play sports since I was old enough to hold a stick. I can’t imagine not playing,” he explains. “Football is fun, but lacrosse is my passion.”
Along with playing Division III lacrosse, Thyberg hopes to pursue a premed degree. “I love the idea of taking on a difficult and time consuming major, but still being able to do what I love. I’ve always wanted to be a doctor, but I’ve always wanted to have an activity to do on the side.”
Thyberg was involved with the school’s production of Cinderella and takes band lessons in his free time. He also is involved in Chorus.
In the fifth grade, Noah’s life was turned upside down after he was diagnosed with myocarditis. The disease weakened his heart, causing him to need a transplant. “I’m so blessed to wake up today and be able to go play a sport I love. I will never take that for granted.”
Randolph Macon Men’s Lacrosse, led by Coach J.B. Sheridan, is a competitive Division III program. Although they had an upsetting season last spring, only winning six games and losing eleven, Noah is anxious to begin his career as a Yellow Jacket.
“I’m really excited for him. It’s definitely a great fit, and I think he has the ability to succeed,” says friend and teammate Patrick Gover.
“I’ve gone my whole life playing lacrosse and I don’t want to stop now,” smiles Noah.
