Priyanka Chopra does an astounding job in her role as the main character on ABC’s new drama series Quantico. As the star of the show, she plays the part of Alex Parrish, an FBI recruit who is training for 21 weeks to become a special agent at the Quantico base in Virginia. The show explores the lives of Alex and the many other recruits in their FBI training, exposing their tough experiences in the program.
Although the recruits are considered the best in the business, the viewer quickly discovers that they each possess secrets of many kinds, some minimal and others immense. The biggest secret of all, as the first episode reveals, is that one of the recruits turns out to be the mastermind behind the biggest attack on the U.S. since 9/11. This “whodunnit” mystery is what the show revolves around, giving the viewer no choice but to continue watching in order to figure out who the true culprit is.
The series spins off with a scene of Alex lying among the rubble of destroyed buildings in New York, the location of the terrorist attack. Because of her unfortunate whereabouts during the event, she is placed at the top of the FBI’s suspect list for the act of terrorism. The episode jumps back and forth from her past experiences in the training program to her current situation as the primary suspect in the attack. The series continues in this way, building anticipation as Alex tries to prove her innocence by investigating which one of her peers was the organizer of the terrorist act.
Airing on September 27 of this year, the recently developed show successfully combines typical mystery drama with a fresh and innovative story. Executive producers Joshua Safran (producer and writer of Gossip Girl and Smash) and Mark Gordon (producer of Grey’s Anatomy and Criminal Minds) managed to create the suspenseful and addicting series through the show’s original plot, putting the viewer closer to the edge of their seat in each episode. A combination of How to Get Away with Murder, Scandal, and NCIS with its own unique storyline, Quantico continues to engage the viewer’s attention as the show progresses.
