The holiday season has started and many families have started to plan their trips and festivities. A lot is going on this break with people having time to spend with their friends and families. Students around the school all have unique plans for what they’re going to do during this break.
Some students are going all the way to different states, staying or doing nothing at all. Senior Austin Zhang says, “I’m not really going to do anything this Thanksgiving break. I’m just going to chill at home.” Others have different plans, such as visiting family over break. Sophomore Aaron Taiku says,“I am going to a family friend’s house.”
Some Fall festivities people have planned during this Thanksgiving break are going to festivals, carving pumpkins, and volunteering at different centers. Many students are participating in these activities such as Senior Baracka Ndiritu who says, “I’m going to be heading to a couple of Thanksgiving festivals.” Other students such as Junior Tyler Montford have similar plans.
The main purpose of Thanksgiving is giving to others and spending time with friends and family. Also, it’s to give thanks for health and other blessings in life. Students around River Hill are taking the time they have on break to spend with their families.
Besides Thanksgiving, during this break students are excited about Black Friday shopping There are many good deals with Austin stating, “There isn’t much in particular I’m doing on Thanksgiving, but there is Black Friday. I’m going to be shopping online for a new bike.”
Students are having a simpler approach, just playing board games with their family and friends. Junior Tyler Montford says, ”I’m going to my aunt’s house to watch football and eat dinner.” Senior, Alex Zhang had similar plans with him saying, “I’m just staying at home.”
There are students using this Thanksgiving break for a time to rest for their mental health. Students have multiple classes with loads of work so they are taking the time to relax for their mental health. Students are stressed a lot and this is a well-needed break. Tyler says, “I’m glad I can have time to relax from all of the stresses at school.”
Even If you don’t have anything planned for Thanksgiving, there are many events happening around Maryland. Some events taking place are the Annual Classic Motor Museum Thanksgiving Parade, Turkey Trots and Friendsgiving. Also, there are many volunteering opportunities on Thanksgiving such as the Howard County Thanksgiving Distribution.
This is a well-needed break with students having some time to rest. Students are going to go to events, rest or just spend time with their families. On break, make sure to take the time to relax and be prepared to come back strong. This will be a wonderful Thanksgiving for all!
