With Christmas just around the corner, people are becoming antsy picking out Christmas gifts for their loved ones. This year there is no need to stress; I have come up with a list of gifts that anyone will love this holiday season. Whether you’re looking for a gift for a friend, loved one, or family member, these gifts will bring them joy and excitement. I have come up with three gift categories that will be sure to excite as well as some gifts to stay away from.
The first category is gifts that your receiver needs. A good example of this would be a baking set for someone that runs a bakery. These gifts are always a good idea because they are useful and save your receiver money and time. Another good example would be a grille set for a dad who loves to grill, this shows that you put time and thought into getting them the perfect gift.
The next category would be gifts that the receiver has expressed they want. These gifts are guaranteed to be successful because they have told you that they like this certain gift, meaning there is a high chance they will enjoy your gift. An example of this would be makeup, skincare, and clothes. When speaking to senior Katie Coleman she told me that “this year she is most excited about getting the leggings she has been wanting for a long time.” Although she is expecting this gift, it will be exciting for her to open it on Christmas morning because it is something she has wanted for a long time.
The last category of gift ideas would be the “surprise gift” that the receiver has taken interest in. This is the gift your receiver usually doesn’t expect, but if you know the receiver well enough this can be the most rewarding gift to give because you will see the surprise and joy on their faces. Examples of these gifts could be anything the receiver doesn’t expect but has taken an interest in, like claw clips, room decorations, and skincare. When speaking with senior Gracyn Minick she expressed her feelings towards “surprise gifts” and said, “They can be a really good idea, or bad one but as long as you know the receiver well, and they have taken an interest, it should be a successful gift.”
During the holiday season, there are many gifts I would recommend you stay away from, whether it’s because they are shallow gifts that don’t show you care about the receiver or they are gifts that require serious thought before purchase. For example, gift cards: while they are convenient all it shows is that you spent money on them in the least caring way possible. Gifts like pets, although could work if the receiver is aware, don’t usually work because it ends up being way too much of a commitment.
