River Hill seniors have previously gone through the process of submitting their stressful, yet important college applications. One of the regular decision deadlines has recently passed, and seniors are waiting for the day they will hear back from their dream college.
Almost every student has their idea of a dream college, the perfect school for them. Let’s take a look at what the seniors at River Hill have to say about what their top college is. When asked in an interview about her top college senior Isabella Evers replied, “Loyola University Maryland, because I like the small size and how I will be able to build stronger relationships with classmates and professors. I also like how they offer a lot of internships and over half the students get to study abroad. They also have really good advisers so the percentage of students that make it to grad school, med school or a job in six months is crazy high.” It seems that this Roman Catholic school has many benefits that are catching the attention of some seniors here at River Hill.
While some students would like to stay in Maryland, others desire to go to a college out of state. Merina Billey exclaimed, “If money wasn’t a problem I would 100% go to Virginia Tech! I toured in October and I loved the campus. But more than that I really like their five year architecture program. The building and environment was awesome and it was somewhere I could definitely imagine myself studying at.” Choosing the school you can see yourself at is always great, but it can be hard when factors such as out of state tuition get in the way.
Reasons for choosing a top college have many different attributes. A student’s dream college may be their favorite because of the environment or maybe the people. Although the programs that colleges offer seem to be catching the attention of the River Hill seniors.. Senior Sophia Li remarked, “Brown, because of its open curriculum and I wanna get into their PLME program. It also is not a really cut throat environment.” Competitive colleges exist all across the country but it seems that seniors like Sophia do not want to deal with an environment that creates competition.
Applying to colleges is a very challenging and new process for seniors. It is a scary idea to have to apply to your dream college and just sit and wait for that admission decision. The seniors here at River Hill are definitely aiming high when choosing their top colleges and it is certain that many will accomplish their goals.
