Many River Hill seniors plan to submit applications for their Early Action or Early Decision schools by the November 1st deadline. With that deadline due in less than a week, some seniors voiced their feelings about the process.
Laura Peng says that she feels “unmotivated to write because school can be so draining. It’s been somewhat easier for me because I started writing in the summer. Although, it still is rough and scary because the quality of the essay determines my future.”
Grace Pavalko believes that teachers are not acknowledging how much time college applications take.
Grace claims that“College applications have been very long and I feel that a lot of teachers have not taken into consideration how much work we have to do for college apps and that we have to work on them every day.”
Jannah Nassar, a varsity player on River Hill field hockey, has to balance sports, classes, and college applications.
“There’s a lot going on, especially for people that are pretty busy in the fall. I play sports so I get home pretty late and then I have to do my normal homework plus college applications. Managing my time has become really difficult,” Jannah shares.
Similarly, Ara Omitowoju finds time management challenging during this time as well.
“I’m struggling. The bags under my eyes are extreme and time management is hard. I barely have the motivation to do my homework and play a sport,” Ara declares.
Simon Hu admits that he has “probably done one supplemental out of thirteen. I just think that I have a lack of self-control right now. So that’s my hot take.”
Jannah Nassar adds that “if you are like me and have to retake a standardized test it’s a lot of work. So 2/10.”
