For most people, the future is the only thing that’s on their mind. Ever since we were little we always thought about what we wanted to be when we were older. Some people’s dreams were to become the teachers of the future. Well now that the future is closer than we think, there are clubs to help move us along into thinking about what we are going to do for the rest of our lives.
The FEA or Future Educators Association is a national student organization dedicated to supporting young people interested in educated related careers. This club started in 2005 by Phi Delta Kappa but made prominent in the community May of last year.
This club coordinated with a class offered at River Hill called Human Growth and Development. Vice President of the club, Dana Stevens says, “It’s a lot of hard work being the vice president, but I’ve been working in the Human Development class for three years, and I love working with the kids. Seeing how excited they get when we teach them new things really makes all the hard work worth it.”
There are many activities that the FEA does with the pre-school kids. These activities are planned at each meeting. Each activity is made by scratch every time the club meets with the kids. Activities can be themed from science lessons to holiday themed lessons.
The mission of the FEA is to encourage the recruitment and development of prospective educators worldwide through programming and relevant research.
The FEA also competes in national competitions that offer opportunities to measure their creativity, skills, and the initiative to against high standards.
There are so many ways that people are preparing for their future. Some steps maybe harder than others, but for teaching, FEA is the easiest and best way to help lead you towards a better future..
