As the 2023-24 school year at River Hill comes to a close, excitement is in the air as everyone looks forward to summer vacation. While many students are making plans to travel, hang out with friends, or relax at home, what about our dedicated River Hill teachers? What do they have in store for their summer break? Let\u2019s take a closer look at the exciting plans and activities our teachers have lined up for the summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms. Kessinger, a health teacher, shares her exciting summer plans: \u201cThis summer, my family and I are going to two different beaches, Myrtle Beach for ten days and Rehoboth for a family beach week.\u201d She also adds, \u201cWe are also going to Richmond for a couple of concerts over at the Atiki Bar.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, she mentions, \u201cWe are also working on an above-ground pool; even if the water is freezing, I’m ready to jump straight in.\u201d A similar sentiment was expressed by Ms. Land, an English teacher, who said, \u201cI’m ready to swim in my above-ground pool and soak up the sun.\u201d Ms. Land is equally enthusiastic about making the most of the summer, embracing both relaxation and outdoor activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked about any plans for revising class work and slides over the summer, both Ms. Land and Ms. Kessinger expressed the same idea. Ms. Land states, \u201cI\u2019m not required to do so. I have completed all my work and I\u2019m just ready to relax this summer.\u201d Ms. Kessinger conveys, \u201cI\u2019m not going to do anything school-related over the summer. I don\u2019t get paid over the summer, so I don\u2019t need to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms. Long, a new history teacher, has a different approach. “I plan to revise some of the documents I’ve taught this year to make them easier to understand. Based on feedback and questions from students, I will make adjustments to simplify the work,\u201d Ms. Long explains. \u201cEven though I\u2019m going to be gardening and spending time with my family in their new above-ground pool, I\u2019m going to be taking two big bags of stuff to go over for next year.\u201d She concluded by saying, \u201cRight now I feel optimistic about doing work over break, but I\u2019m pretty sure I will procrastinate and just not even do it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As our teachers embark on their summer adventures, their dedication to their profession and their students continues, promising an exciting and enriching year ahead for everyone at River Hill.
