TikTok’s viral cloud bread is trending, but how many of us have actually tried to make it? I’ve always wondered: how does it taste? Is it difficult to make? How long will it really take? Is it worth it? Well, today I put my inquiries to the test and tried the recipe. To make it even better, I tried a Texas Roadhouse butter copycat recipe to go with it.

The recipe I chose to use was supposed to make one loaf, so I decided to double the recipe and split it into six loaves. I preheated my oven to 300 degrees and began by placing six egg whites into the hand mixer, turning it on, and letting it run until the bubbles began to form. I then added five tablespoons of sugar and two tablespoons of flour (since I didn’t have corn starch).

Again, I turned on the hand mixture and kept it on until it reached an almost fluffy consistency. Once I felt that it was almost done being mixed, I added red and blue food coloring to make the cloud bread purple. Finally, after mixing it for a little longer, the mixture was ready.

I split the mixture into six and placed it into the oven for 25 minutes- and here’s where I made my biggest mistake. I would soon realize that instead of fluffy cloud bread, it was more flat. The mistake I made was opening the oven before it was done to check on it. Regardless of its lack of fluff, I still thought the cloud bread was pretty good, even though it wasn’t as good as I expected it to be.I noticed that it had a very egg-y taste to it (probably because the main ingredient is egg whites), and this led me to the conclusion that cloud bread would make a pretty good breakfast food.

When the Cloud Bread was cooling on the counter, I began to make the Texas Roadhouse Butter. I added half a cup of softened butter, one teaspoon of ground cinnamon, two tablespoons of honey, and two tablespoons of powdered sugar to the hand mixer. I mixed them together, and once it was done I put it in a jar.

I have to say, the butter was a great touch to the Cloud Bread. It was creamy, sweet, and I’d say it went well with the fluffy egginess of the Cloud bread.

Overall, I’m glad I tried out this recipe. Although I’m not sure if I would try it again, it was fun to attempt. I can’t wait to try more recipes like this and I definitely recommend trying it out for yourself.
