Black friday: the event sparks excitement, fear, and even panic. On Black Friday, people across the US have the opportunity to get the deals of a lifetime, and fight their way to finally get the things on their wish list, and this is no exception for the River Hill community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many stores participate in the event in hopes to see a flood of people enter their stores and see those lovely dollar bill signs. Some students took advantage of Black Friday, as they took out their wallets and prepared for deals for their favorite stores. When asked about their favorite stores, sophomore Armitta Nafisi replied with, \u201cThe first store I think of when I hear Black Friday is Urban Outfitters. It\u2019s the first thing I go to and I want to get their deals. Their shirts are usually $40 and they were $20.\u201d Another student, sophomore Gina Dhaliwa stated, \u201cTarget and especially Amazon have some pretty good deals, so I always check there first. There wasn’t really anything I thought was interesting. But Forever 21 had some good deals and I got some perfume for $7 off.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Popularity with all the low deals and great prices make stores more packed than ever. Sophomore Ariella Shulterbrant was one of the very many people who commented that they would rather be online shopping. She responded, \u201cThere’s no way I’m going to go into any store on Black Friday. It\u2019s crazy and there’s a chance you are going to have to fight for what you want, so [I would rather] stick to buying what I want from a screen instead.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Black Friday is an opportunity for everyone and what many people seem to look forward to once the month of november hits. But some don\u2019t have the same opinion about Black Friday. Senior Anthony Meoni, commented,\u201cIt just seems like a made-up holiday all about shopping and consumerism giving into a dystopian nature.\u201d He continued, \u201cThis idea of a celebration all about consumerism is just a plan by the government to make us spend more money.\u201d Sophomore Cat Garcia had similar opinions to Anthony. They stated, \u201cIt’s all about capitalism and all a part of the government plan. It\u2019s just exploitation to us to make us spend our money.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even with Black Friday coming to an end, it won\u2019t stop stores from showing off holiday deals or the people from ransacking their aisles. It\u2019s only a matter of time before people roll up their sleeves, preparing for round two as they head back into the sea of shoppers looking for holiday presents.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
