The month of March has arrived. Only three months remain until the graduation of the River Hill Seniors. The college application process is coming to an end and now students are sitting back waiting for their acceptance letters. Although what comes next?

Now that they may have chosen a college, seniors have to get prepared and make some decisions about their future, whether it be in college or afterwards. A very important part of college is choosing what you want to study, or major in. This can be a difficult process to make a choice that will guide you to your career. Of course you want to make the best decision for what you want to do in the years after your college experience.

When asked what her intended major is, senior Amber Cummings replied, “Music Industry because I want to be a music producer. One day I want to own my own record label.” It is great to see the students here at River Hill have big dreams and are ready to take on the obstacles ahead.

Senior Sophia Li remarked, “I want to major in Biology because I want to do pre med and go to med school. I want to be a pediatric surgeon.” Pre med is something that many seniors here are interested in. Catarina Fernandes said, “ I want to major in Biomedical, I’m doing a pre med program and it gives me more options. I want to be a doctor in the future.” It seems that you will be seeing many River Hill students in the medical field in the future.

While choosing one major is very complicated, some students are either keeping their options open by choosing undecided or split between a couple different majors. Lin Tomohara explained, “I want to be a Dentist after college, so I am split between Statistics and Biology. I applied for one of these two majors depending on the school I applied to.” Meanwhile, Rose Fernandes knows what she wants to major in, but not what she wants to do officially after college, “I’m not really sure what I want to do, I’m experimenting with my interests starting with a community health major. I can really only tell you that I plan on getting a masters degree or pursuing more education.” Making decisions such as these can be rough, but it is good to take situations like this one step at a time.

It is hopeful that everyone will be happy with their projected majors and thrive in their future endeavors. College is very near for the seniors and one can only wish them all the best of luck.
