By Salma Zaghari, Staff Writer

The long-awaited winter-themed Starbucks menu has finally opened its doors, with the abundance of peppermint and cacao leading the way. Starbucks has only been River Hill’s favorite spot to chill, study and relax since forever. This year’s menu beverages include Peppermint Mocha, Chestnut Praline, and much more. Imagine this cold weather month with a warm Starbucks drink in your hands, alas, though let’s hear what River Hill has to say.

Freshman Ayah Hassan says, “I love the winter-themed Starbucks drinks so much, it’s the one thing I look forward to after school,” Ayah continues that “my favorite drink would have to be the toasted white hot chocolate.” Another sophomore, Pooja Swamykumar, agrees that “Sugar Cookie Almond Milk is my favorite,” since she remembers “the first time I had it was on the way to Cleveland and it was just a really good experience.” She went on to add that she was really just into the holiday mood.

Overall the menu seems to be igniting different opinions, sugar cookie almond flavor being the most targeted. Though there have been some suggestions made to the menu. Many students, like senior Jannah Nassar, have said they wish to see “more of a diverse range,” while Junior, Bushra El-Bedawi has added that she “would have liked to have seen the eggnog back.”

However, these students seem to disagree. Take Tania Mostoufi, a sophomore who said, “my least favorite holiday drink is the Sugar Cookie Iced Coffee because it just tastes like burnt marshmallow and it really doesn’t hit the way it should.” Freshman Morgan Bao agrees “The Sugar Cookie Iced Coffee isn’t that great–the texture is off and overall it’s not worth the money.”

According to BestCoffeerecipes.com, Peppermint Mocha hit number one and Iced Peppermint Mocha at an eight. Overall, the new Starbucks menu has both good and bad aspects, but isn’t it nice to just have a warm drink on a cold day, especially if it has anything to do with winter? Personally, my favorite drink is Chestnut Praline. Whatever your opinion may be, the traditional yearly starbucks menu changes every year so don’t give your hopes up, we hear next year they are thinking about bringing back the eggnog. Happy holidays and may this new year bring you new adventures and lots of gifts.

By Salma Zaghari, Staff Writer The long-awaited winter-themed Starbucks menu has finally opened its doors, with the abundance of peppermint and cacao leading the way.
